THE ORIGINS OF LA TANIA :

Originally, the village was called La Tagna, which meant "the Bear's Lair" in Savoyard dialect. At the time, bears were abundant in the Tarentaise forests.

The history of La Tania dates back to the 1990s, when it was built in anticipation of the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. Located halfway between Courchevel and Méribel, La Tania was designed as an accommodation site for athletes and visitors to the Olympic Games. Its strategic location in the heart of the Trois Vallées makes it an ideal base from which to explore one of the world's largest ski areas.

HARMONIOUS DEVELOPMENT:

Unlike some ski resorts that have been built with little regard for the natural environment, La Tania has been designed in harmony with the surrounding nature, with much of the spruce forest preserved. The buildings were constructed in a traditional wooden architectural style, blending perfectly with the Alpine aesthetic and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Jacques Labro, a leading architect of the time, was particularly responsible for this work.

OLYMPIC LEGACY:

This Olympic legacy has left an indelible mark on the resort, which continues to host top-level sporting events and attract winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world.

PRESERVED ALPINE CHARM :

Despite its growth and success, La Tania has managed to preserve its authentic Alpine charm. Unlike some of its larger and busier neighbours, La Tania has a more intimate and friendly atmosphere.
