Your year-round mountain destination

Discover Méribel Mottaret

The Méribel-Mottaret resort was built to offer easy access to the ski slopes, from the resorts that make it up. Most of the residences offer ski-in/ski-out access to the world's largest ski area, Les 3 Vallées. The Perdrix piste runs alongside the residences from the Hameau district to the centre of the Mébel-Mottaret resort, making it easy for skiers not staying in the same residences to join up.

A free ski lift,  the Teleport of Chalets, also makes it easy for skiers to get to and from the centre of Méribel-Mottaret and reach the Hameau, after a stop at Le Laitelet.

The free shuttle buses also make it easy to get from one district to another, as well as to cover Méribel and its many hamlets.

The districts of Méribel-Mottaret

Méribel-Mottaret is made up of 2 main neighbourhoods: the Laitelet, which makes up the entire section to the west of the entrance roundabout and the station, and the Châtelet, located to the south, after the tunnels. Le Laitelet itself is made up of Mottaret centre, the central part of Le Laitelet and Le Hameau, at the top. These areas range in altitude from 1,700m to 1,800m.
In Méribel-Mottaret, the residents generally look out onto the slopes, with the road accesses situated to the rear; a real advantage!

Here are the key facts to remember about the resort's neighbourhoods:

  • Mottaret centre, is the lower part of Le Laitelet, with many shops and restaurants.
Bus stops: Office du tourisme and Orionde.
  • Le Laitelet, just above the centre, this is mainly a residential area, easily accessible by the Chalets téporté or the free shuttle buses.
    Bus stops: Téléporté, Provères, Laitelet.
  • Le Hameau, located at the very top of the resort, it has its own small shopping centre with shops, bars, restaurants and supermarket. It is also accessible via the Chalets ski lift, making it the last resort in the resort. Bus stops: Arolles, Hameau.
  • Le Chatelet, separated from the Laitelet by the snow front, this district has many restaurants, shops and a mini-market. The kindergarten is also located here. The Nordic ski slopes are accessible from the bottom of Le Châtelet, as is the path that leads to the promenade around Lac de Tuéda.
    Bus stop: Châtelet.
Access the upper part of the Châtelet via the inclined lift.

The inter-valley links are at an altitude of over 2,000 m, as are the slopes of the 3 Vallées at altitudes of 1,100 m and 3,230 m, guaranteeing snow cover throughout the winter. 85% of the ski area is above 1,800 m.

OUR TIPS

Discover the advantages of a ski in/ski out resort

Méribel-Mottaret will allow you to décover the advantages of staying in ski-in-ski-out resorts: an advantage you won't be able to live without! Most of the residences in which we rent flats are right on the ski slopes, and the most remote residences are just 300m away!

Our tips for making the most of your day

Élisten to R’Meribel (FM 97.9 and 98.9)

Every morning, listen to the latest news and information on ski area openings, weather forecasts, the state of the snow and also the programme of events and activities. All in French and English!

Choose the best time to ski

Avoid go skiing between 9.30am and 10.30am, by which time the skiers have unloaded the children at the ski hills and are off to attack the peaks. The quietest time to ski? Between midday and 2pm, when everyone is eating!

don't get lost

Piste maps are available at many locations in the resort, or online and via the Méribel or 3 Vallées app.
Signposts show you the directions and names of the slopes in the area. The colours of the signs give you information about the difficulty of the runs: from the easiest (the greens and blues) to the most difficult (the reds and blacks). The large information panels at the bottom of the main ski lifts give you all the essential information you need, such as which slopes are open, the 3 Vallées links, avalanche risk, temperatures, etc.
If you want to cover the 3 Vallées, don't forget to plan your return well in advance so you don't miss the last cabin that will take you back to your valley: this will save you a taxi ride!!

Equip yourself to the best

Check the weather conditions and temperatures before you set off, and don't forget that it will be even colder on the summits!
Equip yourself accordingly, particularly with thermal underwear, which is often lighter and retains heat better than heavy jackets. The best solution if you don't know how to keep warm? Spend 10 minutes on the balcony with your outfit on: if you're really too cold, you'll have to change it!
For children, don't forget that helmets are compulsory. You can hire one for around 15 euros from a ski shop.
It goes without saying that infants and babies must not be taken out on the slopes with you, even if they are properly strapped in and covered up!
Last but not least, be sure to wear a helmet! Finally, check your equipment on your first runs to make sure that the bindings are correctly adjusted. If in doubt, ask a sports shop for advice.

Don't Hesite to take ski lessons

You always enjoy it better when you have more control. Agence Saulire offers you the chance to book your ski lessons with the ESF to improve your level of skiing, discover new activities (ski touring, ski mountaineering, etc.) or accompany you in complete safety.) or accompany you in complete safety to discover the virgin slopes of our beautiful freeride area!

About safety...

Stay as much as possible on the sécuris;ed slopes. If you absolutely must go off-piste, ask the pisteurs about the stability of the snowpack and follow the essential safety advice:
- don't go off on your own,
- take an avalanche victim rescuer with you,
- observe the slope, the breaks in the slope and the snow,
- don't go alone,
- look carefully at the slope, possible breaks, ledges, wind marks, different heights of snow at the top of the slope, etc.
- don't go down the slope alone,
- don't go down the slope alone,
- don't go down the slope alone,
- don't go down the slope alone -Don't take several skiers down a slope at the same time; go one at a time and always keep your friends in sight.

Ideally, set off accompanied by an instructor, who knows the risks and the valley better than you.
